Rosewater Football Club ... the very mention of this little western suburbs club once stirred fear and loathing. For the best part of a century, its field of dreams was a colosseum. The leafy streets and elegant little Victorian homes that sprang up around its blood-soaked grass belied a culture bred of the docks. Before the port of Adelaide slid into decline, the Bulldogs hunted with gladitorial glee old college boys and university men who otherwise puffed out their chests in top-tier amateur football. That was then. The last 20 years have been hard.

Rosewater was relegated to Division 5 after Season 2007. So the club dug deep, and recruited hard. In '08, the Doggies were expected to at least make the finals. It started well (see above film), but you can see here what happened on the seniors' video page. Still, times are changing for the better. New families are moving in - part of the Westward Movement - and the club's once-vaunted junior programme has been restarted. Sergeant-Major Chappy is instilling toughness, without "silly stuff".
